Dow Inc. DOW shares fell 0.7% Tuesday in premarket trade after the chemicals company and specialty materials beat expectations for first-quarter profits and sales, but volume dropped 11%. The company’s net loss jumped to $93 million or 13 cents per share from $1.57 billion or $2.11 per share in the previous period. Adjusted earnings per share were 58 cents, well above the FactSet consensus figure of 36 cents, after excluding nonrecurring items such as costs associated with a restructuring or litigation.
