The social investing platform eToro will offer direct trading services for crypto and other assets to Twitter users through an agreement with the social media firm, the company announced Thursday.

This feature allows Twitter users to search for “$Cashtags”, such as $TSLA, $BTC, to see real-time cryptocurrency, stock, and other asset prices, and will direct them to eToro to invest.

A spokesperson for eToro confirmed to CoinDesk that the partnership was global, so Twitter users from around the globe will be able access the $Cashtags function.

A press release shared with CoinDesk stated that Twitter users who search for a $Cashtag icon currently see price charts of a limited number of financial assets. The partnership with eToro, however, will “hugely expand” this list. Twitter has recorded 420,000,000 searches since December when it added $Cashtag pricing data. The top five searches include Tesla ($TSLA), Bitcoin ($BTC), and SPDR S&P500 ETF ($SPY), as per Twitter’s internal data.

The news was first reported by CNBC , and then confirmed by eToro via its official Twitter account.

The expansion of $Cashtags is in line with Elon Musk’s plans to integrate financial products into Twitter as part of the “super app” he wants to create. ”

Musk said previously that he wanted Twitter’s proposed payment system to support both fiat and crypto currencies.

We are delighted to partner with eToro in order to offer Twitter users greater market insight and access to investment capabilities. In a press release, Chris Riedy said that Twitter would continue to invest in growing #FinTwitter.

Twitter didn’t immediately respond to CoinDesk’s request for a comment.
