The article cited a message posted to a Telegram Group believed to be run the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Hamas is a terrorist group in the U.S. as well as the U.K.. It has accepted bitcoin donations for some time.

The Brigades announced in a Telegram post it would stop accepting bitcoin donations to ensure “the safety of donors” and due to the increased prosecutions against those who try to support resistance using this currency.

In 2021, Israeli authorities seized 84 digital wallets believed to belong to Hamas. These wallets contained a mixture of crypto assets, including BTC and DOGE. They also included XLM, XRP, ADA, XLM and XRP.
