HCA Healthcare Inc. HCA. +0.84% announced Monday that the names of patients, their phone numbers, date of births, appointment dates, and other personal information had been published online by an “unknown and unauthorized” party in an apparent theft of an external storage device used to automate email message formatting. In a press release, HCA Healthcare Inc. said that the compromised data did not include clinical information, such as patient diagnoses or treatment, or payment details, or Social Security, driver’s licence numbers or passwords. HCA has said that it did not find any evidence of malicious activity on their networks in relation to this incident. According to a press release, the company will notify impacted patients, and offer credit monitoring and ID protection services where necessary.
