FactSet reported that U.S. stock prices closed higher on Thursday. The Nasdaq Composite reached its highest level since August 25, as optimism about a possible debt ceiling deal continued. FactSet’s preliminary numbers show that the S&P 500 SPX, +0.94% rose 39.28 points or 0.9% to 4,198.05. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.34% increased by 115.14, or 0.3% to 33,535.91. The Nasdaq composite COMP + 1.51% gained 188.27 or 1.5% to close at 12688.84. Media reports claim that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is optimistic about the talks to raise debt ceiling.
