The U.S. stock market posted big gains on Friday, just a day after Federal Reserve officials announced that they would not be raising interest rates in June, but suggested more rate increases may come this year. According to FactSet preliminary data, the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA gained about 430 points or 1.3% to end near 34,409 while the S&P 500 Index SPX gained 1,2% to win its sixth consecutive session and to achieve its longest streak of gains since November 8, 2021.
